A roof at the end of its life costs more every winter you patch it. Nails rust, battens rot, the old felt turns brittle and splits, and once water gets past a slipped tile it runs straight onto the timbers. When the repairs keep coming back, a new roof is the cheaper answer over the next 30 years.
Our re-roofs are the whole job. The old tiles, battens and felt come off and go in the skip. With the roof open we check every rafter, purlin and wall plate and replace anything rotten. A breathable membrane goes on, new treated battens are set out to the gauge of the new tile, and the roof is covered in the tile or slate you choose. Ridges, hips and verges are finished in dry fix systems, so there is no mortar left to crack and wash into the gutter.

Four to six working days on the roof for most semis and bungalows once the scaffold is up. Slate, dormers and larger houses take longer. You get the start date and the expected finish with your quote.
Replacing a roof like for like on a house does not need planning permission. Conservation areas, listed buildings and flats are different, and Brighton has many conservation areas, so we check with you before anything is booked.
