Roofers in Newhaven for the Victorian terraces on the hill above the harbour, the semis of Denton and South Heighton and everything between. Ring 01273 110448 for a free written quote.
Newhaven grew around the port at the mouth of the Ouse, and its oldest streets climb the west side of the valley above the harbour and the ferry terminal. They are Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mostly slate, with tall shared chimneys. Across the river, Denton and South Heighton are inter-war and post-war semis in tile.
Harbour weather is hard on roofs. Salt air corrodes nails and fixings, wind comes up the valley from the sea, and the chimneys on the hill take the worst of it. Slipped slates, failed lead at the stacks and crumbling flaunching are the repairs we expect on the terraces.
On the semis, it is perished felt under old concrete tiles, cracked ridges and gutters that have dropped. Where repairs keep coming back, a re-roof with new membrane and dry fix ridges ends them.
Newhaven is about 7 miles east of our Brighton base. We work on both sides of the Ouse, from the terraces above West Quay to Denton and South Heighton, and up to Piddinghoe.
On the hillside terraces, roof repairs mean slipped slates, failed lead and crumbling chimney stacks. Our chimney and lead page covers the stack work. On the semis across the river, it is perished felt and cracked ridges.
A terrace re-slate or a new roof on a Denton semi comes with new membrane, battens and lead and a 25-year guarantee. Rear extensions get a new flat roof.
